Starting over at a new high school is never easy, but for Russel Dugger the transition from Owasso High School to Catoosa High School was seemingly painless. Head coach Christian Hood and the Catoosa Indians welcomed the gunslinger into the Catoosa family and Dugger has taken full advantage of the opportunity.
“The transition has been seamless. Coach Hood runs his locker room and team in a similar fashion. My teammates welcomed me into a great family and I’m looking forward to what we can do this season,” said Dugger.
Dugger has worked hard and is competing to be the starting quarterback for the Indians. A position he does not take lightly.
“I try to lead by example on and off the field. I want to make sure that everyone’s head is up in the locker room and on the field,” said Dugger. “I’m honored for coach Hood to put his faith in me and love the energy he and his staff bring.”
Dugger said his only expectation is for the team to go all out and give it all they have on every play. His desire to leave his mark on the program is inspiring.
“I want us to be the team that changes this program, brings a championship back to Catoosa and start a legacy,” said Dugger.
This season he will have the opportunity to play with his younger brother Dylan who is a wide receiver enter his freshman season.
“Having my brother Dylan on the same team is humbling, it brings everything full circle. My first completion to him will be one I never forget,” said Dugger.
