Catoosa’s Adam Shuck – Area Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Army National Guard

There are people that come into each of our lives and make an impact on who we become. Some of them may only be a part of our lives for a short period of time, while others may be longer. For Adam Shuck, he says that he has a few people that fit that bill.
“My parents are my biggest role models,” he said. “They have instilled great morals and values within my personality and my character. Also, my football and basketball coaches have taught me to truly be the person they know I can strive to be.”

Adam is a senior at Catoosa High School, where he is a member of the Indians basketball and football teams. Along with athletics, Shuck is also involved in a variety of things around the district.

“I am one of the valedictorians of the class of 2021,” he said. “I am also the Catoosa student school board member, senior class president, vice-president of the student council, and National Honor Society treasurer. I only get one chance in high school, so my outlook is why not take part in every experience possible.”

Another person that had a big influence on Shuck’s life was his third-grade teacher, Samantha Schreck.

“She is a compassionate teacher that wanted the very best for me and also my peers. She conveyed a passion for what she was doing, and it very much instilled the idea of doing what you are most passionate about is very important. Her love for us was contagious, and that is why she is one of my favorite teachers.”

Adam has some great memories from his athletic career at Catoosa, but he says that games against their rival are the best one.

“My favorite memories are the ones we played our rival, Verdigris,” he said. “The Route 66 Rivalry is important to our classes because we have essentially grown up with these kids who are just a few miles down the road.”

Along with all he has going on, Shuck also owns and operates Oh Mighty Ices shaved ice shack in Catoosa.
