On the defensive side of the ball, Catoosa will work to be a tough and physical team in all areas of the defense. They will be led at the linebacker position by Brandon Ball (5-11, 185, Sr.) and Lor, who combined for seventy-three tackles last season. Salyer will work to disrupt the opposing offenses on the defensive line. Patrolling the secondary will be Joe Gaza (6-3, 160, Sr.), Barnett, and Hamilton. Last season, Gaza totaled twenty-six tackles and an interception, while Hamilton had ten tackles and an interception. The trio of defensive backs will need to work hard and make a bigger contribution this season in order for the Indians to be successful. Catoosa will face four 2021 playoff teams, including Class 3A semifinalist Verdigris. Assistant coaches this season will be Sal Guerrero, Chase Frazier, Josh Smith, and Chris Henderson.
