Megan Fultz is a senior at Catoosa and can play just about any position around the softball diamond. Fultz is experienced at shortstop, centerfield, and pitcher. As a senior Fultz is hoping to get recruited and have the opportunity to continue her softball career at the next level. However, she is also working hard in the classroom and wants to graduate high school with distinction and would like to study secondary education next year in college.
Fultz began playing softball in eighth grade and the game has provided her with many lessons that she will carry with her throughout the rest of her life.
Fultz said that her favorite aspect of softball is the friendship and bonds that she has been able to build with her teammates on and off the field. The time spent with her teammates are the moments that she will remember for the rest of her life.
As a senior this year Fultz helped to set the tone for some of her underclass teammates as a veteran on the squad and provided a good example for some of the younger players.
“I think that someone who leads by example, someone who always supports their teammates through the good and bad, and someone who you can always count on to give 110% makes someone a good teammate or leader,” said Fultz.
One person that Fultz has admired this year is teammate, Laci Stark.
“This season she broke her thumb in the second game of the season,” Fultz said. “She worked hard to learn how to play first base left-handed so she could continue to play through the season even though it’s not her primary position. In our second to last week of the season she finally got to catch again. Her determination and hard work shows me that if you want something bad enough and you work hard enough you will get there.”
Softball has provided Fultz with many valuable lessons about hard work, overcoming obstacles, and reaching for new goals both as an individual and as a team.
In her last home game at Catoosa, Fultz hit a triple from the leadoff spot, and as the season draws to a close she will continue to cherish the moments she gets to spend with her friends and teammates.
