OFFENSE
The past few years have been tough for the Catoosa Indians, but a new season brings a new slate and a new head coach. Sal Guerrero takes the helm of the program after being an assistant coach last season. He says that the work and dedication of the team last few years should be evident this season. “We are very excited about this year,” coach Guerrero said. “For the past two years we have been young, moving forward we now have those experienced players coming back as juniors and seniors. The majority of our team will have at least 2 years of starting experience under their belt. It’s going to be an exciting time for Catoosa football.” Kanen Bristol (6-2, 290, Sr.) and Jayden Salyer (5-11, 300, Sr.) are a pair of seniors who will be the anchors on the offensive line. Running back Mike Blendowskit (5-8, 160, Jr.) will look to move the ball from the backfield. On the outside, Deandre Hamilton (6-2, 185, Jr.), Tanner Casey (5-10, 160, Jr.), and Dylan Dugger (6-1, 180, Jr.) are all three going to work to get opportunities to pull in receptions at wide receiver.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Indians return some impact players from last season that will play a big role in their success. Gunner Wilson (5-11, 240, Jr.) is a two-time state wrestling champion as a sophomore. As a defensive lineman, he was a team captain last year and led the team in sacks and pancakes. He is a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball. Joining him to take care of things on the defensive line will be Avery Riley (6-0, 280, Sr.) and Boomer Lovins (6-2, 210, Jr.). Playing at linebacker will be Avien Robbins (6-2, 200, So.). He played the second half of last season at linebacker and tight end. He is big and physical and brings the energy. Coaches are looking for him to have a big season for the Indians. The duo of Seth Charles (5-11, 160, Jr.) and Braxton Green (5-10, 160, Jr.) will be working hard to shut down things in the secondary.
