Consistency and dedication are important keys to being successful at anything. That also holds true for athletes, they have to be willing to do what it takes to get where they are trying to go. Michael Blendowski works hard to be his best for himself and for others.
“It has taken a lot to be where I’m at,” he said. “I have been in the gym almost every day and I have not missed a football practice. I am always pushing to be better than I am now. Wanting to play with the team I have grown up with and wanting to win motivates me.”
Blendowski is a junior at Catoosa High School, where he plays football and soccer and also wrestles.
Throughout his life, Blendowski has had people that have been influential to him and helped him along the way.
“My family are my biggest supporters,” he said. “They have been there since day one and will always be there. One of my teachers, Mrs. Barret has made the biggest impact on my life. She has been there since I started middle school and I’ve moved through high school with her and she has always been honest about everything and she is always someone I can talk to.”
There have been some great memories that Blendowski has made during his years as an athlete. But he says that a recent victory has been the best. “As of right now, the highlight of my career was beating Verdigris in football this season,” he said. “With them being our rival, it was great to celebrate that win with my teammates. It was great because we have not beaten them in a long time and I’m glad I was a part of it.”
Stepping onto the field with his Catoosa uniform on is something that Michael does not take for granted. He says that he is thankful for the support that his community has given to his team and the school.
“It means a lot to me to be able to represent my school,” he said. “I know I love the support from the community and I know my team loves the support from them. It is part of the reason we play so good because we have a good community cheering us on.”
