For most high school athletes, their parents are their biggest supporters and cheerleaders.
They are there in the stands cheering during their games and also doing whatever else they
can. Jennifer Dearmond is one of those parents and she says that she loves that it allows her
family to spend time together as well.

“My husband and I try to attend every event and always make sure one of us is there to
cheer them on,” she said. “I one hundred percent believe just having a fan on your side in
the stands makes a huge difference in children’s lives. As a parent, I believe that staying
involved in my children’s sports activities is crucial. It not only strengthens our bond and
creates unforgettable memories, but it also provides an opportunity to instill important life
lessons that will benefit them for years to come. I make sure we participate in all
fundraisers, buy every t-shirt, bring food for events, and help volunteer time anytime we
can.”

Jennifer is the mother of three, two of whom are graduates from Catoosa High School and
one that is a current student.

“My oldest son, Tyler, graduated in 2015. While in school, he played soccer,” she said.
“Andrew graduated in 2018 and he was a wrestler and is currently on the Catoosa football
coaching staff. My daughter Emma is a freshman and plays volleyball.”

Being a part of Catoosa schools is something that Dearmond and her family are proud of.
She says that she loves the community spirit.
“One thing that stands out about Catoosa High School is its tight-knit community,” Jennifer
said. “It’s comforting to know my kids’ friends and their parents, and to see familiar faces at
school events. It’s a small enough community that you feel like you’re part of a family, not
just a crowd of strangers. There’s a sense of security knowing that everyone is looking out
for each other, whether it’s through social media, phone calls, emails, or just chatting at the
store.”
