Head coach Brandi Wilsey is optimistic about the cards she was dealt this year. “I am excited about this season’s varsity but also our program as a whole,” Wilsey said. “We have several returning players and upcoming underclassmen to watch out for. I anticipate a fun and exciting season for Catoosa volleyball.” Frankie Jeremiah (Sr. L/DS), also a standout wrestler and soccer player for the Indians, is one of northeastern Oklahoma’s best young competitors. “Frankie is an exceptional athlete across the board playing multiple sports in addition to volleyball,” Wilsey said. “She has raw talent she has been able to hone in the past two seasons. She is a hustler and exceptional teammate. Any opportunity to encourage them, she takes advantage of!” There’s plenty of leadership to go around in the Catoosa locker room. Another senior, setter Kaydence Welch, is an excellent option for her teammates. “Kaydence is a senior who brings a lot of excitement to our program. She has a competitive edge that is hard to find in players while also being a strong leader,” Wilsey said. “She may not be on the floor the entire time, but she is the same teammate she is on the court that she is on the bench. She is out to be a leader wherever her team needs her to be.” And Emma DeArmond (So.), in her short time as a varsity athlete, has already commanded respect from her coaches and teammates through her example. “Emma is a MB/RS who is one to watch. She is not one to brag on herself, even when her teammates try to brag on her,” Wilsey said. “She is always looking to improve herself from working in the off-season in club ball to private lessons to fix anything that is holding her back from success.” An exciting new talent, yet to make her high school debut, could make an immediate impact on the program. “Adilyn Chisum is an up-and-coming freshman who came to us last year and was impressive from the get-go,” Wilsey said. “She understands the game well and is able to read hitters well. We’re definitely excited to see where Adilyn will go this next season.” The Indians open the season at Collinsville on Monday, Aug. 12 and open at home Tuesday, Aug. 20 against Oologah-Talala.
