2025-2026 Catoosa Cheer – Presented by Steve Swann Insurance Agency – State Farm

By Elizabeth Contreras

This past cheer season has been all about development for the Catoosa team, and with a group of new, young athletes Coach Erin Davis believes this is only the beginning of something special.

“They’ve been transforming, gaining skills and confidence,” said Davis, who took over the program in 2018 and has steadily guided the team through seasons of transformation.

One of the team’s biggest achievements this year was mastering stunts that once felt intimidating and out of reach. Their progress illustrates the hours of dedication each athlete devotes to the sport, learning teamwork, resilience, and spirit.

“The girls started out with a lot of nerves when stunting,” said Davis, “but after working with a stunt coach, those nerves turned into pride.”

In the midst of the challenges that accompany a new team, Davis said that the team’s captain Andrea Reyes and co-captain Emma York have both demonstrated outstanding growth as dedicated leaders.

“Although these positions were new to them, they rose to the challenge, leading with enthusiasm, grace, and a genuine commitment to their team,” Davis explained.

Their leadership has been instrumental in building trust among the team, especially during moments of uncertainty. Goals for the spring season include strengthening technique and developing more challenging routines, shared Davis, who noted that communication and leadership are paramount for forward progress.

“We also want to continue strengthening our communication and leadership skills, ensuring that every member feels confident and connected as we move into new performances and events,” Davis added.

A foundation of quality leadership has helped guide a group still learning to navigate new personalities and strengths, uniting them through open communication and mutual respect.

“We plan to focus on what we do well while improving our technique, consistency, and stamina,” Davis explained. “By recognizing our strengths and being open to growth, we’ll continue moving forward together as a stronger, more confident team.”

Coach Davis ends the season proud, encouraged, and looking forward to what’s next. The Catoosa cheer team may still be young, but their heart, leadership, and unity are laying the groundwork for a promising spring season filled with continued growth and excitement.
