When head coach Vincent Eremita and the Catoosa Indians take to the mat this season, it will be with the hopes for adding another state champion to the list of Catoosa greats and several others making their way to the podium with the possibility of not only placing but winning.

Coach Eremita returns one of the top wrestlers in the state in Mason Burnham. Only a sophomore, Burnham is a returning state champion and a guy who appears to have what it takes to be win multiple state titles.

Several wrestlers return as state placers. Tranel Love placed third last year while Michael Blendowski placed fourth. Love is a heavyweight who also plays on the varsity football team. Blendowski, also a football player, has moved up in weight and is turning some heads this year.

Coach Eremita said the team has several wrestlers to keep an eye on this season and he is looking forward to seeing how they develop as individuals and as a team.

“Aiven Robbins was third at state as a freshman in 2023, was injured last year, but will be a huge addition to our lineup when he gets healthy. Outside of that, Cael Eremita, Seth Charles, and Logan Hargrove are all returning state qualifiers with high expectations,” said coach Eremita.
 
 Also look for Jacy Richardson who is a high impact senior with high expectations coming into the new season.

As for the girls team, coach Eremita said the program continues to grow and the girls continue to work hard to elevate their wrestling. This season the team will field at least two wrestlers looking to add their names to the record books.
 “For our girls, Frankie West is a two-time qualifier and a senior and Shaylee Kelly is a returning state placer, the first girls state placer in school history,” said coach Eremita.

If the returning rosters are any indication of what’s in store for the Indians and Lady Indians, 2024-25 should be a great season on the mat and another year that witnesses Catoosa putting names in the record books.
