Catoosa High School senior Macie Wayne has played two years at the middle blocker position for head coach Carolyn Replogle, but this season in true leader fashion, she is transitioning into an outside hitter. Coach Replogle said she expects Wayne to be a key player in the team’s overall success. For Wayne, the move is part of the game, and she is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team win.
“I love the intensity of volleyball,” Wayne said. “It’s all about teamwork and communication. I love seeing my hard work pay off in games.”
Wayne also said playing with this group has been amazing.
“I love playing with my team because we are able to play and have fun but are also able to keep it competitive at the same time,” said Wayne.
Also a track athlete, Wayne competes in the long jump and high jump, making it to the state meet last year.
In the classroom, Wayne said her favorite subject is science.
“I like asking questions and finding out the solutions by conducting exciting experiments,” said Wayne.
A little known fact about Wayne is her pre-game meal routine. While some teammates stick to a regular food of choice, Wayne like to mix things up.
“My pre-game meal changes week to week, but if I had to choose just one it would be my favorite from McAlester’s,” said Wayne.
