Catoosa High School junior, Cameryn Barclay, plays middle blocker for the girls’ volleyball team. She started playing volleyball when she was just ten-years-old and has loved every second of it.
“Volleyball means playing the sport I love with the people I love,” said Cameryn. “It means pushing yourself to be the best and accomplishing new goals.”
Not only is she dedicated to volleyball, she is also involved in National Honor Society, the Special Olympics, as well as starting high jump in track this year.
Early into the season the team travelled to the Verdigris tournament and had the chance to practice their skills and learn some great lessons.
“I learned as a player that it is going to be difficult sometimes, but you just have to be the best that you can be,” Cameryn said. “As a team I think we learned that we have to be more of a unit than going against each other. We realized when we come together as a team, we are unstoppable.”
Looking back over her volleyball career she has wonderful memories, but she definitely has a favorite.
“When I was blocking a ball and it bounced off my hands and went straight up and hit the scoreboard on the ceiling is one of my favorite sports memories,” Cameryn said.
In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends and family as much as she can.
After high school Cameryn has plans to attend college and study to become a social worker.
