VYPE: How did your season turn out and what were your goals?
Andrea: Our season has been amazing and we have learned and improved so much. My goals this year were to become a better flier and an all around athlete, and to start tumbling more.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in this last year?
Andrea: The most fun I have had this year is getting closer with all my teammates and getting to know everyone. We have had a few team bondings like dinner downtown, going to the lake in the summer, and just having practices that are super laid back and just having a lot of fun.
VYPE: Who is your teacher from any grade and why?
Andrea: My favorite teacher is Ms. Walkins who was my 3rd grade teacher. She would always talk about traveling and she would teach us different words in German every day and we always played lots of games.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Andrea: My favorite athletic memory is about a year or two ago when I was on a level 4 competitive team and we won every competition and qualified for US finals and won!
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you?
Andrea: All my teammates have made a great impression on me, but I think someone I relate to the most is Aliyah Brown. Aliyah is such an amazing young lady, she is always reassuring me if I’m uneasy about something or if I’m feeling anxious she is there to help out and make me feel better. I relate to Aliyah because she was once in my shoes being the youngest on a team and not really knowing what to expect going into school cheer.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on a team?
Andrea: My favorite part of being on a team is working like a team. Our Catoosa Varsity Cheer isn’t just a team, we are a very big family. Being there for one another, understanding and helping each other out no matter what.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?
Andrea: I would take my parents to the Bahamas. They have done everything for me and they are constantly taking me to practice picking me up for practice and leaving work to pick me up or drop me off.
VYPE: When and how did you get into doing your sport.
Andrea: So this is my first year on Catoosa Varsity Cheer. I first started cheerleading at a little cheer gym in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma when I was around four or five. Then I went to another cheer gym in Bixby and was there for about eight years. I had so much fun and I loved my coaches. They were all like family to me, but I stopped cheering completely for about a year and a half. Then one of my now teammates suggested since I was going into high school that I should try out for varsity cheer. So I did and that’s how I got to where I am now!
VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye, or thank you to anyone you wish.
Andrea: Thank you to my coaches and teammates for helping me get to where I am now. Thank you to my amazing and lovely parents and siblings who do everything for me.
